Electrical Engineer

Position summary

Express Elevators & Lifts Inc. is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer / Electrical Engineering Technician to join its Engineering and Operations team. The role focuses on designing, developing, and testing electrical and electronic components used in elevating devices.

Key responsibilities

• Create, refine, and improve electrical control systems for elevating devices, taking projects from early concept through to a finished, market-ready solution.
• Produce electrical schematics, wiring layouts, and related drawings for elevating devices using AutoCAD.
• Handle the selection of parts and prepare bills of materials needed to support electrical components for elevating devices.
• Oversee the assembly and testing of controllers in line with elevator safety regulations and industry standards.
• Prepare electrical pick lists and complete audits for elevating devices.
• Support elevator mechanics during installation, commissioning, and operation of electrical and electronic components.
• Diagnose faults and provide technical assistance for repairing electrical equipment, circuits, and systems using schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Calibrate electrical and electronic equipment and instruments according to manuals and written procedures.
• Assist with the construction and testing of prototypes to ensure they meet required specifications.
• Carry out other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Strong working knowledge of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and elevator controller components.
• Practical experience developing custom controllers within the elevator industry.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred, or a diploma in Electrical Engineering Technician.
• At least 3 to 5 years of experience in the elevator industry.
• More than 5 years of relevant experience in elevator controls and industrial automation for elevating devices.

Commute and relocation

Applicants should be able to commute reliably to Caledon, ON or be prepared to relocate before the start date.
