Role overview

This permanent, full-time Handyperson position is based in Rainham, London, and sits within the Repairs and Maintenance team. The role is practical, customer-facing, and team-oriented, with a strong focus on keeping homes in good condition and helping address damp and mould issues to a high standard.

The annual salary is up to £33,194.87. The working pattern is 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:00am to 5:00pm.

What you will do

• Support the damp and mould team by helping carry out prevention work.
• Fit items such as curtains, blinds, and door handles, using solid general maintenance experience and attention to detail.
• Complete painting and decorating work while keeping the property presentable and organised.
• Repair leaking waste pipes and handle small plumbing fixes using practical problem-solving skills.
• Change light bulbs and inspect smoke alarms with a safety-first mindset.
• Assist with cleaning and waste collection tasks; training will be provided where needed.
• Work closely with the wider repairs team and contribute reliably to daily operations.
• Provide a high level of customer service in every task and interaction.
• Communicate clearly with residents and colleagues, maintaining a professional and approachable manner.
• Use initiative to make sensible decisions and resolve issues independently when appropriate.
• Keep workmanship safe, cost-conscious, and of a consistently high standard.

Experience and skills needed

• Previous experience dealing with damp and mould-related issues.
• General handyperson or maintenance background.
• Experience with UPVC window and door repairs.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Basic hand tools of your own.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Desirable experience

• Prior experience in window repair and maintenance.

Eligibility and important conditions

Applicants must have the right to work in the UK, as visa sponsorship is not currently offered. To drive a company vehicle, you must be over 21, have held your licence for more than 3 months, and have fewer than 9 points on your licence.
