Department overview
The Deans Department within the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies (Ed&IS) acts as the school’s administrative center. It supports strategic planning, academic programs, faculty matters, student services, and day-to-day operations, while contributing to the school’s broader mission in education, research, and community engagement.
Role summary
Reporting to the SE&IS User Support Group Manager, this role provides desktop support to faculty, staff, and students. The person in this position will help users with hardware, operating systems, and software, including email access, network file storage, and printing. The job also involves installing, updating, and resolving issues with desktop hardware and software across the operating systems used by the school, as well as protecting workstations and other network-connected devices through security updates and routine maintenance.

Work arrangement and schedule
This is a hybrid position with on-site work required at UCLA’s campus at least three days each week, with additional in-person days as needed for operational needs. The regular schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Qualifications and technical requirements
The role calls for hands-on experience supporting desktop environments and a strong working knowledge of common workplace technologies, including wireless networking, audiovisual equipment, email, file and print servers, and basic scripting. The position also requires familiarity with enterprise backup tools, patch management systems, workstation imaging, and remote deployment methods for Windows and Mac devices. Strong troubleshooting ability, clear communication with users of different technical levels, and the capacity to work independently while managing priorities and deadlines are also important.
Special conditions
Employment depends on the successful completion of a satisfactory background investigation. A Live Scan background check must also be completed before the start date.
