Role overview

Repton School is looking for a full-time Lifeguard to support safe swimming and smooth day-to-day running across the Prep and Senior School facilities in Repton, England. The role involves maintaining a safe environment for all pool users, responding quickly in emergencies, and helping with wider centre operations when needed.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee swimming sessions at both the Prep and Senior School and ensure all safety rules, procedures, and centre policies are properly followed.
• Identify unsafe behaviour, intervene when necessary, and enforce water safety standards and pool regulations.
• Respond to injuries by providing first aid and carry out rescues when swimmers are in danger or distress.
• Check pool equipment, facilities, and water conditions to confirm everything remains safe and usable.
• Help prepare sports facilities, including lane ropes and indoor or outdoor hockey set-ups.
• Support parking arrangements whenever required.
• Maintain the standards set out in the NOP and EAP, and ensure all users follow the expected behaviour standards.
• Attend training sessions as scheduled.
• Stay alert and use good judgement to help prevent accidents while on duty.
• Follow emergency and incident procedures, and complete the required reports and paperwork.
• Remain within earshot of the alarm warning system at all times while on duty.
• Keep the centre, pool, and outdoor areas clean and tidy.
• Carry out basic coffee shop and reception duties, particularly during busy periods.
• Take on any other reasonable duties assigned by the school, whether communicated verbally or in writing.
