Role overview
The Machine Operator works on the glass line and supports the production of glass and insulated glass units. The role requires a solid understanding of glass handling, sealed unit assembly, and safe movement of materials. The operator must follow all safety and injury-prevention rules across the line and the facility, and contribute to continuous improvement by identifying better ways to perform the work.
Key responsibilities
- Work closely with teammates to support strong quality and efficient output in production.
- Use the required personal protective equipment correctly when handling glass safely.
- Spot materials that fail quality standards and report defects to the Team Leader.
- Complete quality-related paperwork accurately and within the required time.
- Keep the work area tidy by removing clutter, recycling waste, and clearing dust each day.
- Follow all safety and injury-prevention procedures at all times.
- Maintain department tools, equipment, and company materials in a clean, orderly, and professional condition.
- Operate insulated glass (IG) production lines.
Education and experience
A High School Diploma is required. The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with measurements in millimetres and inches, understand different glass types, and be able to read and interpret specification sheets. Basic computer skills are needed, along with clear verbal and written English communication.
