About the organisation

TAFE Queensland is the state’s largest and most established vocational education and training provider, with more than 140 years of experience delivering practical, industry-focused training. Its learning is offered on campus, online and in workplace settings, helping students gain the skills needed to build careers, contribute to their communities and support local industries.

By joining TAFE Queensland, you become part of a skilled workforce that works closely with industry and is committed to high standards and modern training practice.

The opportunity

As Manager, Executive Services, you will support the General Manager and Senior Leadership team at a senior level, oversee executive workflows, act as an important link between the region, corporate teams and external stakeholders, and lead a team of Executive Support Officers to maintain a professional, high-performing service.

This role reports to the General Manager. It is a temporary full-time position through to 22 December 2028, unless otherwise decided.

The main base for this role is TAFE Mooloolaba, although work may also be required at other TAFE Queensland campuses.

Key responsibilities

  • Help drive transformation and cultural change by modelling the organisation’s values of Initiative, Working Together, Customer Focus and Taking Responsibility.
  • Offer confidential, strategic guidance to the General Manager and Senior Leadership team on administrative, HR, governance, legislative, policy and operational matters.
  • Strengthen communication between the General Manager and the CEO, executives, staff, students, industry, community members and other stakeholders across local, national and international networks.
  • Represent the General Manager on important matters, especially those that are sensitive or confidential, deciding what needs escalation and coordinating the right resources for resolution.
  • Prepare and coordinate correspondence, briefing notes, submissions, agendas, discussion papers and reports for the General Manager, including responses to ministerial, departmental, TAFE Queensland and client requests.
  • Provide end-to-end executive support to the region’s Senior Leadership team, including meeting papers, minutes and reports.
  • Lead a high-performing executive support team and develop consistent business practices that improve outcomes for leadership.
  • Carry out research and analysis to develop recommendations and practical solutions for complex issues.
  • Use strong negotiation skills with senior leaders, staff, agencies and community stakeholders on complex and sensitive issues to secure agreed outcomes.
  • Support change initiatives by demonstrating sound judgement, ethical conduct, consistency and a balanced approach to risk.
  • Meet performance targets while promoting innovation, stronger motivation and ongoing improvement across the team.

How you will be assessed

  • Demonstrated success delivering executive services at a high level.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, consultation and relationship-building skills, with the ability to shape the working environment and improve results.
  • Proven supportive leadership that recognises excellence, encourages innovation and builds workforce capability in a demanding and evolving setting.
  • Advanced analytical, conceptual and problem-solving ability, with a clear capacity to align operations to strategic priorities.
  • Ability to produce timely, accurate advice, briefings, detailed reports, policy papers and submissions on complex matters in vocational education and training, while exercising discretion, judgement and integrity with sensitive information.

Mandatory and preferred requirements

No mandatory qualifications or requirements are listed for this role. However, experience at a senior executive services level is highly desirable.

How to apply

Applicants should submit their application through the TAFE Queensland Recruitment Portal. A complete application must include a detailed resume, a cover letter addressing the assessment criteria in no more than two pages, and the contact details of two referees, including one current supervisor.

The closing date is 11:59pm, Friday 10 July 2026. Job reference: TQ2026-632.
