Master Cutter

Role overview

This position is for a Master Cutter based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The role focuses on leading fabric cutting and pattern-making work so that garment production stays accurate, efficient, and aligned with the designer’s intent. You will help turn concepts into finished pieces by building precise patterns, making the best use of fabric, and supporting the tailoring team in delivering high-quality garments.

The client will arrange the work visa and also provide relocation support for candidates who are not local.

Qualifications

• A High School Certificate or a Diploma in Tailoring, or a related discipline, is required.
• Formal training in garment construction, pattern making, or fashion design will be considered an added advantage.

Experience and skills

• At least 7 years of tailoring experience is needed, including a minimum of 3 years in a Master Cutter role or another senior equivalent position.
• Deep practical knowledge of pattern development, garment construction, and fabric cutting methods is essential.
• Strong familiarity with different fabric types and the correct way to handle each one is required.
• You should be able to read design ideas and convert them into accurate working patterns.
• High accuracy in measurement, marking, and cutting is important for this role.
• A creative eye for fashion and garment structure is valuable.
• Clear English communication is expected; Arabic will be an advantage.
• You must be able to manage time well and work to deadlines.
• The role also requires a collaborative approach, with the ability to support and guide tailors.

Responsibilities

• Study design requirements and work with designers or the Head Tailor to develop patterns.
• Create, alter, and finalize master patterns for garments in multiple sizes.
• Mark fabric carefully to improve material efficiency and reduce wastage.
• Use suitable tools and techniques to cut fabric pieces with precision.
• Translate design concepts into practical garment parts that can be stitched and assembled.
• Identify and mark construction details such as pleats, pockets, seams, and button placements.
• Supervise sewing work and provide support to maintain product quality.
• Coach tailors on stitching methods and garment assembly practices.
• Check that completed garments match the required design and quality standards.
• Keep work organized and ensure production schedules are followed.
• Carry out any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Compensation and benefits

The salary is AED 6,000 per month, tax-free in the UAE.
