Role overview
This position supports the enforcement function by helping uphold regulatory standards through site-based checks and direct interaction with members of the public and other stakeholders. The role is largely field-oriented and will involve being the initial contact point during inspections, explaining rules clearly, and spotting possible breaches.
Key work areas
- Carry out scheduled site inspections to assess compliance with URA regulations, detect potential breaches, collect supporting evidence, and record observations accurately for follow-up by senior officers.
- Communicate compliance and regulatory requirements to homeowners, tenants, business operators, and other stakeholders in a clear and practical way.
- Manage on-the-spot feedback and handle tense interactions using calm, de-escalation-focused approaches.
- Support the administrative side of enforcement work by preparing inspection reports, proposed enforcement actions, and drafting formal notices or letters for the relevant parties.
Candidate profile
- A diploma from a polytechnic in civil/structural engineering, mechanical/electrical engineering, architecture, building, or another relevant discipline is preferred.
- Applicants without a diploma may still be considered if they have at least 3 years of enforcement-related experience.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant enforcement work experience is required.
- The role calls for strong attention to detail, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple operational matters at once.
- Applicants should have solid interpersonal and communication abilities, along with strong analytical and written communication skills.
- Comfort working both independently and collaboratively is important.
Contract terms
The appointment is offered on a 1-year contract initially. Any extension or continued engagement will depend on further assessment and consideration.
