Role Overview
This position is for a Process Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer who will work on improving assembly performance, quality, and manufacturing stability in an automotive environment. The role is based in Chennai, with the work location specified as Mahindra City / Oragadam.
Responsibilities
- Study defects, rework cases, line losses, and torque-related escapes, then apply root-cause analysis tools such as 5-Why and 8D to put corrective actions in place.
- Lead continuous improvement activities such as Kaizen, mistake-proofing, and standardization to raise first-time-right assembly performance.
- Improve cycle time, line balancing, and workstation ergonomics through method studies and shop-floor layout or process enhancements.
- Assist during product readiness, trials, production ramp-up, and SOP stabilization by identifying and closing process and facility-related gaps.
- Review and strengthen manufacturing quality indicators, including DPV, fit and finish, noise risk, and fastening quality.
- Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, UO, and Facility teams to implement improvements and maintain them effectively.
- Follow company procedures, safety expectations, and audit standards throughout all work activities.
- Monitor CAMI-related actions, business gains, and long-term sustainability, and present progress updates to management.
- Revise and standardize SOPs, work instructions, PFMEA documents, and Control Plans after implementing improvements.
