Role overview

Navantia UK is seeking a Procurement Officer to join its Methil team. This role suits someone who works well in a fast-moving environment, enjoys developing supplier relationships, and wants to contribute to the delivery of important projects. You will own procurement activity from sourcing through to tendering, negotiation, contract award, and supplier performance follow-up. The role involves close collaboration with project, legal, finance, and operations teams to secure subcontractors, services, and materials that deliver strong value while meeting standards for compliance, quality, and responsible sourcing.

Key responsibilities

You will manage procurement for subcontracted works, services, and goods across the full cycle. This includes creating and issuing requests for proposal, requests for quotation, and contractual documents, then reviewing supplier bids, capabilities, and delivery performance against project needs. You will lead negotiations to obtain competitive pricing and strong contract terms, track contract delivery and compliance, maintain clear procurement records for reporting and audit use, and work with internal stakeholders to align purchasing decisions with project goals. The role also includes market analysis, sourcing new suppliers or partners, pricing and trend benchmarking, supporting colleagues on procurement processes and best practice, and identifying and managing supplier risks across financial, operational, and compliance areas.

Requirements

The role calls for demonstrated procurement experience, ideally in subcontracting or services purchasing, along with a solid understanding of procurement principles, contract administration, and compliance requirements. You should bring strong negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving ability, plus confidence using procurement systems and tools; SAP experience would be an advantage. Good interpersonal and communication skills are important, as is the ability to influence others and build effective working relationships. The position also requires strong organisation, close attention to detail, and the ability to balance several priorities within demanding timeframes.

Education and background

A degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a similar subject is preferred. Professional procurement qualifications such as CIPS or CPM are desirable. The employer also welcomes broad professional experience or equivalent knowledge gained in comparable roles.
