Role overview
Tangent is hiring an entry-level Sales Development Representative to support commercial growth from its Dublin office. The role is focused on helping the company reach more employers who want to hire early-career talent and people from socially diverse backgrounds. Compensation includes a base salary of €30,000 to €60,000, along with commission.
About Tangent
Tangent is building a more equitable way for people to find jobs. The platform connects job seekers with volunteer expert mentors who can help with CVs, applications, interview practice, industry insight and salary negotiation. These mentors work across leading companies and share their experience to help candidates navigate hiring with greater confidence.
The company’s purpose is to reduce the advantage that comes from existing networks, access to expensive advice and pre-existing connections. Tangent is growing across London, Dublin, Berlin, Amsterdam, New York and other locations, and is expanding a team that can help more employers discover talent from a broader range of backgrounds.
What the role involves
As part of the sales team, you will identify organisations that could benefit from Tangent’s services, start conversations with decision-makers and help create a healthy sales pipeline. The position is directly with Tangent and is designed for someone who is enthusiastic, coachable and motivated by the mission.
Responsibilities
- Research and shortlist companies that may benefit from Tangent, especially those hiring early-career talent or aiming to attract a more diverse candidate pool.
- Reach out to prospects through calls, email, LinkedIn and other outreach channels.
- Assess whether a prospect’s hiring needs are a good match for Tangent’s offering.
- Build and maintain relationships with contacts across talent, recruitment, people, commercial and leadership functions.
- Keep outreach activity, conversations and opportunities updated in the CRM.
- Work closely with sales, marketing and partnerships to strengthen messaging and growth efforts.
- Develop an understanding of hiring trends, social mobility, recruitment technology and the future of work.
Training and development
This is an entry-level opportunity, and Tangent will provide support to help the successful candidate build the needed skills. Training will cover prospect research, outreach writing, cold calling, early-stage sales conversations, CRM use, customer discovery and explaining Tangent’s mission and value clearly.
As the company continues to grow, the role offers room to take on greater responsibility over time.
Success measures
Early success will mean getting to grips with Tangent’s mission, understanding customer needs and becoming more confident in outreach. Longer term, success will be measured by building a strong pipeline, arranging qualified meetings for the commercial team, improving sales messaging, developing relationships with decision-makers and contributing ideas that support growth.
Why join Tangent
Joining Tangent means being part of a mission-led business with real social impact. The company offers the chance to build commercial skills from the ground up, progress as the team grows and receive share options as part of the reward package. You will also work alongside a motivated team that is focused on making hiring fairer.
Mission and candidate experience
Tangent has built its own hiring process around the same mission it promotes externally. Candidates who apply are given access to the wider Tangent platform, including a network of more than 3,000 volunteer expert mentors. This support can help with interview preparation, industry advice, application guidance and salary negotiation. The support is optional, separate from the hiring assessment and does not affect selection decisions.
Eligibility
This opportunity is open to graduates, non-graduates and career changers. Previous sales experience is not required, and no degree is necessary. Tangent is looking for people who are curious, resilient, motivated by the mission and eager to learn. The company welcomes applicants from all backgrounds, including those who have not followed a traditional career path.
Equal opportunity statement
Tangent is an equal opportunity employer and encourages applications from people of every background.
