Role overview
The Security Officer is responsible for helping maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming hotel environment through active patrolling, monitoring, incident response, access control, and guest support.
Key responsibilities
- Carry out regular patrols across the hotel property to maintain a visible security presence and discourage possible threats.
- Keep watch over CCTV feeds and alarm systems, and report anything unusual or suspicious.
- Act quickly and correctly during security-related situations such as accidents, theft, disturbances, and other emergencies.
- Check security tools and systems on a routine basis to make sure cameras, alarms, and access controls are working properly.
- Apply hotel rules and procedures to support a safe and comfortable atmosphere for both guests and employees.
- Offer helpful guest service by answering questions, giving directions, and resolving security concerns professionally.
- Work closely with front office, housekeeping, and management to keep security operations aligned across departments.
- Support emergency response planning, evacuation steps, and drill activities to improve readiness.
- Prepare clear incident reports and maintain accurate records for operational, legal, or insurance use.
- Stay informed about current security practices, tools, and trends, and suggest ways to strengthen hotel security.
- Screen and observe guests, visitors, and staff to ensure only authorized people enter the property or restricted areas, following approved access procedures.
- Inspect bags and vehicles thoroughly in line with hotel security guidelines.
- Follow all directions from supervisors or managers regarding procedures, protocol updates, and changing workplace conditions.
- If you hold a valid driving licence, be ready to transport guests or colleagues to hospital in emergency situations while remaining calm and professional.
