Role overview
This full-time, on-site position is for a Senior Estimator based in Mississauga, Ontario. The role focuses on developing and checking estimates for a range of construction projects, working closely with the project management team, and examining drawings and specifications to produce accurate pricing.

Who the company is looking for
- 5 to 8 years of estimating experience is required; background in a construction company is considered an advantage
- Solid understanding of construction materials, methods, and techniques
- Hands-on experience with estimating and bidding for general contract work
- Experience estimating ground-up construction projects
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze construction drawings and specifications
- Comfort using Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and estimating tools such as Planswift and Procore
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks at once
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a similar field is preferred
- Experience in project management or construction supervision would be an added advantage

Key estimating responsibilities
- Prepare pricing submissions and design proposals for management, including service calls and new project opportunities
- Identify capable subcontractors and gather competitive pricing for tender submissions
- Review tender drawings in detail and provide input on design, scheduling, cost-saving opportunities, and possible construction issues
- Attend pre-bid meetings, proposal sessions, tender walkthroughs, conferences, and site visits as needed
- Create detailed, accurate estimates covering materials, labour, equipment, subcontract work, and construction facilities
- Develop subcontractor scopes of work, and assess contractor quotations to determine the best overall value
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors and suppliers
- Keep the master tender list current, ensure trade information is updated, and continuously identify new trades to add
- Coordinate and deliver bids to management in a timely and well-organized manner
- Present cost estimates to support customer proposals, including consideration of standard and exceptional site or project conditions
- Prepare bid status reports and ensure submissions align with all specifications, contract statements of work, bid invitations, and related contractual terms and conditions
