Role overview
This is a senior project delivery and leadership position based in Auckland, working across buildings and infrastructure project management. You will act as a trusted advisor while guiding projects for blue chip clients in Auckland and across New Zealand.
The role sits within Beca’s Project Strategy & Delivery team and offers variety across clients, industries, and project types. You will work alongside a local Auckland team of project and programme management professionals, with room to build a long-term career path.
What you will do
You will lead projects from the early initiation and design stages through procurement, consenting, construction, and final handover. The position calls for strong relationship management, clear communication, and the ability to work across Beca and with a wide range of clients.
You will be expected to understand governance frameworks, risk controls, scheduling, and construction contracting, while also having experience leading multidisciplinary teams made up of designers and contractors.
Key capabilities for the role
- Practical knowledge of NZS 3910 and ideally NZS 3916.
- Experience preparing and managing project programmes in MS Project.
- Background acting as Engineer’s Representative and/or Contract Administrator.
- Confidence facilitating meetings with clients and senior professionals from other disciplines.
- Solid understanding of New Zealand building construction methods.
- Strong written communication skills, including report writing for clients and senior leaders.
- Ability to run projects independently with director-level oversight.

You will be supported by a strong internal team and will have the chance to contribute knowledge to help develop others. The work spans major sectors such as aviation, defence, education, commercial, health, transport, and utilities.

About the ideal candidate
The right person will bring the credibility and confidence to work across both small and large buildings projects in the local market. Experience in this field is essential, and the position is not suited to graduates or early-career project managers.
You should be tertiary qualified and have consulting experience relevant to construction project management. A proactive approach, commercial judgement, relationship-building ability, and the confidence to manage internal and external stakeholders are all important.
You will also have experience in design management, project planning, delivery, and providing strategic advice, along with a creative yet practical mindset. A collaborative style and a sense of humour will be valued.
