Software Engineer I

About the Role

Uber is looking for a Software Engineer I to help solve challenging technical problems and build products that operate at scale. In this role, you will work on software used by teams across the company, contributing to services, platforms, tools, and internal infrastructure that support customer-facing experiences and global operations.

The environment is fast-paced and collaborative, and success in the role calls for strong engineering fundamentals, clear communication, and a practical approach to building reliable software.

What You’ll Do

• Design and develop services, products, tools, and internal platforms used across the organization.
• Support user-facing products, downstream services, and infrastructure components.
• Work closely with teammates to deliver solutions in a high-velocity development setting.
• Apply strong problem-solving skills to implement efficient and scalable technical solutions.
• Contribute code that is understandable, maintainable, and reusable.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong command of data structures, algorithms, and problem solving.
• Experience in at least one programming language such as Java, Go, C/C++, Python, or Ruby.
• Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• A structured and detailed approach to solving problems, including awareness of complexity analysis.
• Interest in building distributed systems and software that works at very large scale.
• Ownership mindset, drive, grit, and willingness to work on meaningful outcomes.

Eligibility

This opportunity is open to candidates who have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience through an engineering bootcamp. Applicants must have graduated or completed an engineering bootcamp in 2025 or 2026, and those selected must be ready to begin the role in 2026.

The role is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India and follows a full-time, onsite work arrangement.
