Software Test Analyst

Role overview

GienTech is hiring a Software Test Analyst to deliver quality assurance services for banking, financial services, securities, and insurance systems. This role is centered on functional testing and requires a solid command of testing practices across the software lifecycle.

Reporting structure

This position reports operationally to the Software Test Manager and administratively to the Head of Delivery for the ASEAN Business Unit.

What you will do

• Take part in the full functional testing cycle, including Function Test, System Integration Test, User Acceptance Test, and Regression Test.
• Contribute from the early stages of a project by reviewing requirements, clarifying gaps, developing test cases and test data, and checking test environment readiness.
• Plan and schedule testing activities, then carry out execution, log defects, support triage discussions, and provide regular status updates.
• Ensure test execution is accurate, findings are properly documented, and test coverage is sufficiently broad and relevant.
• Join clarification discussions with business analysts and developers to confirm the requirements baseline, key dependencies, and expected application behavior.
• Collaborate with the broader testing team to create test designs and a traceability matrix aligned to the requirements baseline.
• Follow defects through to resolution and closure throughout the life of the testing engagement.
• Support the test team lead with effort estimates for testing work beyond your assigned scope.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts and innovation initiatives within the Testing Centre of Excellence (TCoE).

Requirements

• 1 to 5 years of experience in software quality assurance within the BFSI sector, with exposure to test execution, test design, and test design-related work.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Professional testing certification is preferred, such as CSTE, CSQA, or ISTQB CTFL.
• Working familiarity with the software development lifecycle, including Waterfall, Agile, and DevOps approaches.
• Strong willingness to learn, careful attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective problem-solving ability.
• Good interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
• Strong command of English, both written and spoken, with the ability to communicate ideas clearly and logically.
