Role overview
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a caring, proactive Activities Coordinator to support adult acute mental health inpatient wards at the Wellsprings Hospital Site in Taunton. The role focuses on helping patients through structured, therapeutic activity that supports assessment, treatment, recovery, and day-to-day wellbeing.
What you will do
As part of a multidisciplinary ward team, you will work alongside registered nurses, Occupational Therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver a purposeful activity programme for adults with mental health needs. Your contribution will help create a ward atmosphere that feels safe, supportive, and recovery-focused.
The position involves providing individual therapeutic input as well as group-based sessions, while also contributing ideas and practical input into the design and ongoing development of the ward activity schedule.
Working pattern
This post operates as a seven-day service, so the successful applicant must be prepared to work occasional evenings and weekends. Some sessions may require lone working.
