Role overview
AMAX is looking for an Assembly & Test Technician to support the build and validation of server hardware in Shannon, County Clare, Ireland. The role focuses on assembling systems to specification, configuring hardware and firmware, running tests, and making sure each unit meets quality expectations before it is cleared for release.
Key responsibilities
- Build server systems and subassemblies according to work instructions and engineering requirements.
- Fit core hardware parts such as motherboards, CPUs, memory modules, storage drives, power supplies, and network cards.
- Carry out system setup tasks, including BIOS configuration and firmware upgrades.
- Run functional and diagnostic checks using approved equipment and documented methods.
- Detect, investigate, and fix hardware and system-level issues.
- Confirm that completed units satisfy quality standards before they are released.
- Record production data accurately and maintain full traceability documentation.
- Follow ESD controls, quality processes, and safety rules at all times.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing efforts.
- Keep the workstation neat and organized in line with 5S practices.
Requirements
- Previous experience in electronics assembly, PC building, or a manufacturing setting.
- Solid understanding of computer hardware components such as CPU, RAM, storage, and networking.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability.
- Working knowledge of BIOS setup and hardware diagnostics.
- Experience in server or data center hardware production is preferred.
- Careful attention to detail and a strong quality mindset.
- Ability to follow technical instructions and procedures precisely.
- Basic IT knowledge and comfort using diagnostic tools.
- Willingness to support different production areas to help meet delivery timelines.
- Good communication skills and a collaborative approach.
