Role overview

CGS Federal is hiring a mid-level Auditor to support financial and fraud investigation work. This position focuses on auditing and accounting tasks tied to complex financial transactions and organizations that may be trying to avoid detection. The selected candidate will also help create and refine technical audit guidance, work across teams, and communicate clearly throughout investigations.

What the role involves

• Review and audit different accounting systems.
• Organize, analyze, and present large sets of information, including bank statements, financial records, healthcare claims, tax files, correspondence, policies, and other supporting documents using standard software tools.
• Support investigation planning by carrying out quantitative and qualitative analysis to identify possible witnesses and relevant financial records.
• Draft clear and accurate analysis reports, including charts, summaries, and schedules when needed.
• Help conduct conferences and interviews with representatives from financial institutions, CPAs, and other potential witnesses.
• Use electronic databases to locate assets, documents, and other physical evidence.
• Assess whether an individual or company can pay financial penalties based on financial disclosures and independent asset and liability research.
• Carry out other investigation-support duties, including preparing interim and final reports, organizing and securing evidence, and developing charts, graphs, and audiovisual materials for motions and trial use.
• Coordinate with federal agency staff and state or local officials as needed during investigations.
• Perform additional related tasks within scope.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in statistical/data analysis, finance, accounting, fraud examination, or a closely related discipline.
• At least 3 years of professional experience in finance, accounting, fraud examination, or statistical/data analysis.
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to clear the required background review.
• Experience performing similar services as described for the role.
• Preferred: experience reviewing medical records and understanding medical billing processes, including use of STARS and/or Business Objects.
• Preferred: prior work with a federal or state legal or law enforcement organization.
