Role overview
This opportunity is for a Cards Analytics Specialist to support a leading bank in Qatar through a global cards and payments organization. The position is intended to strengthen evidence-based decision-making across the cards journey, from acquisition and activation through to spend growth, retention, and profitability.
The specialist will own portfolio analytics and reporting end to end, identify trends and risks, spot growth opportunities, assess campaign impact, and turn complex data into practical recommendations for senior leaders. The role works closely with product, marketing, finance, risk, and operations teams to improve portfolio outcomes and support commercial decision-making.
Engagement details
- Position: Cards Analytics Specialist
- Client: Global Cards & Payments Firm
- End client: Leading Bank
- Work setup: Onsite in Doha, Qatar
- Initial contract length: 12 months, with a strong possibility of extension
- Experience level: 7+ years
Key responsibilities
- Build, update, and distribute recurring as well as ad hoc portfolio dashboards covering acquisition, activation, spend, ENR, delinquency, attrition, and profitability.
- Run detailed portfolio diagnostics using segmentation by product, channel, customer cohort, and vintage to uncover performance drivers, risks, and upside opportunities.
- Plan and perform campaign analysis before and after launch, using control groups, ROI calculations, response-rate tracking, uplift assessment, and A/B testing approaches.
- Prepare analytical support materials such as insight packs, business cases, and scenario analysis to guide tactical and strategic choices across product, portfolio, marketing, and risk teams.
- Strengthen reporting efficiency by improving data quality, streamlining extraction and transformation steps, and introducing more automation for repetitive reports.
- Maintain the routine cards portfolio reporting suite on daily, weekly, and monthly cycles, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and decision-ready for leadership.
- Interpret portfolio health across the cards lifecycle, including acquisition, activation, usage, retention, and attrition, and recommend actions for weaker segments.
- Create and maintain interactive Tableau or Power BI dashboards that allow business users to self-serve on key metrics and reduce ad hoc reporting requests.
- Convert analytical findings into concise presentations and recommendations tied to key P&L levers such as interchange, fee income, cost of funds, and provision rates.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align KPI definitions, maintain data consistency, and embed analytics into planning and campaign execution processes.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience in cards analytics, portfolio analytics, or business intelligence within banking, payments, or fintech.
- Hands-on expertise in SQL, advanced Excel, and reporting tools such as Tableau or Power BI.
- Strong command of cards portfolio metrics and profit-and-loss drivers, including acquisition, profitability, interchange, fees, and provisions.

- Experience with campaign measurement, including segmentation, uplift analysis, and ROI assessment.
- Knowledge of card scheme reporting and benchmarking tools.
- Ability to work with Python, R, or SAS.
- Exposure to CRM platforms and core banking or card management systems.
- Strong stakeholder management and storytelling skills for translating data into business action.
- Analytical problem-solving approach with the ability to handle several priorities at once.
- Collaborative working style across product, marketing, risk, operations, and finance functions.
- Certified Analytics Professional (CAP) and exposure to core banking or card management systems are preferred.
