You will contribute to publicity planning, media outreach, thought leadership, award entries, internal communications, and broader storytelling efforts that help position Disney Advertising as a leader in the advertising market. The role is based in New York, and you will report to either the Senior Manager, Communications or the Director, Communications depending on business focus, while working closely with the wider Communications team.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the Communications team in creating and executing both short-range and longer-term publicity plans that raise the profile of Disney Advertising.
  • Draft and refine press materials such as releases, media pitches, and talking points, and help coordinate outreach to national and local media contacts.
  • Spot and pitch opportunities for Disney leaders to participate in industry events, thought leadership platforms, and earned media coverage.
  • Research, refresh, and manage editorial, awards, and event calendars for trade and business media.
  • Assist with preparing and submitting corporate and executive award nominations, and keep the team informed about upcoming submission opportunities.
  • Research and evaluate speaking engagements and conference opportunities.
  • Partner with internal teams to plan events, manage logistics, and support Disney Advertising’s presence at external gatherings.
  • Develop and sustain strong working relationships with internal groups including Sales, Client Solutions, Operations, and PR teams across Networks, Streaming, and Technology.
  • Create and distribute press content, key messages, and Q&A documents, and look for fresh ways to share news through both written and visual formats.
  • Maintain relationships with journalists, digital influencers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Help manage coverage clips and tracking systems, and support reporting on major business announcements and earned media results.

Required qualifications

  • At least 2 years of experience in public relations, journalism, or marketing communications.
  • Background in corporate communications, PR, journalism, or a similar field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to share information quickly and clearly with both internal and external audiences in a large global organization.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Working understanding of media, streaming, and advanced advertising, along with interest in data-driven marketing, technology, and addressable advertising across Sports and Entertainment.
  • Experience in multi-brand organizations and collaboration with corporate teams, including executive communications support, is preferred.
  • Ability to simplify complex topics and explain them in a clear, accessible way.
  • Experience working with senior leaders and proactively identifying thought leadership opportunities for spokespeople.
  • A proactive, solutions-oriented mindset and a polished professional approach in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Willingness to work overtime when business needs require it.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience building media lists and performing media research with Muck Rack.
  • Familiarity with social media tools and performance reporting.
  • Experience using Photoshop, Adobe Creative Suite, and Canva.

Education

A bachelor’s degree is preferred, ideally in Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations, though equivalent work experience may also be considered.
