EM3 is seeking an Energy Engineer to support its consultancy team in Limerick, Ireland. This permanent full-time role sits within an industrial energy management business focused on helping large manufacturing clients cut energy use, lower emissions, and improve operational performance. What you will do

In this role, you will work closely with senior consultants and clients to develop and deliver energy-saving and sustainability-focused solutions. You will take responsibility for specific projects and help move them from initial assessment through to completion.

  • Support energy audits and climate action planning for industrial clients, including calculations, audit documentation, and presentation decks.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, measurement and verification reports, energy efficient design reviews, and related consultancy deliverables.
  • Advise clients on energy efficiency, renewable energy options, and sustainability strategies.
  • Create tailored energy action plans covering cost reduction, efficiency upgrades, and renewable energy opportunities.
  • Contribute to sustainability initiatives, including support for energy certification goals and carbon reduction targets.
  • Track energy and environmental regulations to help clients remain compliant with applicable standards and legal obligations.
  • Identify relevant grant opportunities and advise on where they may apply.
  • Support wider business development activity when needed.
  • Present findings and recommendations clearly, including energy savings, return on investment, and environmental impact.
  • Assist senior consultants with project management tasks such as planning, coordination, and follow-up.
  • Stay current on sector developments, best practices, and new technologies in energy consultancy.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in energy management, energy consulting, or another technical role in this area.
  • Hands-on experience carrying out energy audits, analysing data, and implementing energy-saving measures.
  • Good understanding of industrial energy systems and sustainability methods.
  • Experience with ISO 50001 energy management systems, including implementation and ongoing maintenance.
  • Experience verifying energy savings using recognised methods such as IPMVP.
  • Strong client-facing skills and the ability to build professional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Good project management, organisation, and time management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving ability and the capacity to work independently.
  • Solid technical knowledge of efficient systems, technologies, and standards.
  • Ability to explain technical topics clearly and persuasively.
  • Willingness to travel within Ireland and internationally when required.
