Junior Data Specialist

Role overview

A fast-scaling fintech in London is looking for a Junior Data Specialist to join its growing team. This role is well suited to an ambitious professional early in their career who wants to deepen their knowledge at the crossroads of data, technology, and financial markets.

Key responsibilities

• Work through large, intricate financial data sets from several sources by cleaning, improving, and analysing them.
• Create and support data pipelines and operational workflows with Python.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to raise data quality, accuracy, and product coverage.
• Design charts, dashboards, and other visual outputs that help communicate findings to stakeholders and clients.
• Track down and fix irregularities, inconsistencies, and technical data problems.
• Contribute to the creation of market intelligence and analytics solutions.
• Build knowledge of derivatives markets and OTC asset classes as part of the role.

Required experience and skills

• A degree from a top university in a numerate subject such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, or a similar discipline.
• Solid Python skills, including the ability to work with and interpret data.
• Hands-on exposure to data visualisation or dashboard tools.
• Working knowledge of financial markets, preferably with some familiarity with derivatives.
• Strong analytical thinking and structured problem-solving ability.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a strong focus on data quality.
• Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical ideas to both specialist and non-specialist audiences.
