About the role

The Jugendherberge Sorpesee is a 166-bed hostel welcoming around 22,000 guests each year. A team of 18 employees takes care of families with children, school classes, and sports and music groups. The property is located directly on the shore of Lake Sorpesee and also includes its own surf school with stand-up paddle and longboard rentals.

We are looking for a full-time cook/kitchen professional starting immediately, with a weekly workload of 30 hours.

Your tasks

• Prepare hot and cold dishes for communal catering according to the catering concept and internal standards, and cook occasional buffet items for special events.
• Get meals ready for service and either serve them or look after the buffet.
• Ensure that Smile® quality management standards and hygiene rules are consistently followed.
• Support the kitchen lead in organizing smooth and efficient kitchen operations.
• Help shape menu plans tailored to the target groups while keeping an eye on costs.
• Assist with ordering food and supplies, monitor stock levels, and handle goods receipt.
• Take care of post-service cleanup, including support with washing up and cleaning duties.

What we are looking for

• Completed training as a cook or a comparable qualification.
• Enjoyment of fresh cuisine with a strong vegetarian focus and appealing food presentation.
• Good manners and a well-kept appearance.
• Comfortable interacting with people as well as working with food.
• Good command of German.
• Team spirit and a cooperative mindset.
• Flexibility and resilience.
• A proactive attitude and plenty of ideas.
