Overview

The University of Alberta is hiring a Journeyperson Locksmith to help maintain safety and security across its campuses. This role is based in person and involves work across University of Alberta locations in Edmonton.

Role Summary

The locksmith must meet the legal requirement of being security-audited and registered with Alberta Justice and the Solicitor General. The position supports a safe and secure environment for the university community by responding quickly to urgent security issues and maintaining secure key systems.

Key Duties

This role includes continuous service, with participation in a rotating standby schedule, to address emergency situations in a timely way.

• Respond to urgent incidents involving lost or stolen keys, break-ins, insecure doors, vandalism, and similar security concerns.
• Provide ongoing locksmith support to protect the university community.
• Maintain and oversee a high-security keying system for private organizations affiliated with the University of Alberta.
• Support emergency and routine locksmith needs across campuses as required.

Employment Terms

This is a one-year-plus-one-day term position starting from the date of hire.
