Lorry Attendant

Role Overview

This position supports daily delivery and collection activities by assisting the lorry driver with transporting goods to customer sites, warehouses, and other business premises. The role involves handling packaged chemical products and ensuring that deliveries are carried out safely, accurately, and in line with workplace procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Work alongside the driver during day-to-day deliveries and pickups at customer locations, warehouses, and business sites.
• Load and offload goods carefully, including pails, drums, containers, and packed chemical products.
• Verify that the correct products, quantities, and batch numbers are loaded as listed in the Delivery Order (DO).
• Inspect packaging for leaks, damage, or other defects before dispatch and again on arrival.
• Fasten cargo securely to reduce the risk of shifting, spills, or product damage while in transit.
• Help with manual movement of goods using pallet jacks, trolleys, and similar handling equipment.
• Support the driver with route navigation, reversing, parking, and delivery-site safety.
• Collect customer signatures or acknowledgments on delivery paperwork.
• Return completed DOs and other required documents to the logistics or admin team after deliveries.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures related to hazardous materials and chemical transport.
• Keep the lorry and loading areas clean and orderly.
• Assist with warehouse, packing, or other operational tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• PSLE or secondary-level education is preferred.
• No prior experience is necessary, although experience in logistics or delivery work will be an added advantage.
• Must be physically fit and able to handle items weighing up to 20–30 kg.
• Comfortable working in both warehouse and outdoor settings.
• Able to understand basic English instructions related to deliveries and safety.
• Reliable, punctual, and attentive to safety.
• Positive team player who is willing to learn.

Preferred Competencies

• Familiarity with delivery documents such as DOs, invoices, and delivery checklists.
• Basic knowledge of chemical or hazardous goods handling.
• Forklift experience is an advantage, though it is not required.

Working Conditions

• The schedule may involve a 5.5-day or 6-day work week, depending on operational needs.
• Overtime may be required during busy delivery periods.
• The job involves exposure to warehouse areas, loading bays, and outdoor delivery environments.
