Role overview
MediaHQ is hiring a media-savvy research professional for a 6-month contract to help keep its media contacts database accurate, current, and reliable. In this role, you will monitor journalist movements, find new contacts, refresh media profiles, and support the quality of information that customers use every day.
This position is a strong fit for someone who follows media closely, enjoys spotting journalist job changes, likes digging into online research, and takes pride in keeping records well organised and error-free. A genuine interest in how the media industry works, along with curiosity and attention to detail, will help you do well here.
The team values people who have opinions about the media, keep up with journalists, podcasts, and publications, and can bring thoughtful ideas for improvement.
About the company
MediaHQ provides an all-in-one platform for PR and communications teams, combining a media contacts database with press release distribution, reporting, and coverage analysis tools. The company works with a growth mindset and encourages creativity, independent thinking, and purposeful action in its research work.
What you'll do
- Support the MediaHQ research team in day-to-day database work.
- Carry out research on people and organisations across the Irish and UK media sectors using internal tools as well as manual searching when needed.
- Keep the MediaHQ database updated and accurate.
- Handle research queries raised by users.
- Review user feedback and analytics to identify ways to improve database quality.
- Contribute to larger one-off research assignments as required.
Skills and fit
- A collaborative attitude and comfort working in a team that values growth and innovation.
- Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and confidence in asking smart questions.
- Strong organisation, speed, efficiency, and careful attention to detail.
- Self-management, accountability, and the ability to work productively in a remote, semi-flexible setup.
- Clear written and verbal communication.
- Helpful knowledge of media landscapes in Ireland and the UK; familiarity with the US and Canada is an advantage but not required.
- Comfort using quantitative information in research work is preferred.
- Good technical confidence and experience with tools such as Excel, Google Docs, and task-management platforms like Teamwork.
- Background in media, PR, agency work, or data analytics is useful but not mandatory.
Contract and working arrangement
This is a full-time contract lasting 6 months. The role is hybrid, with at least 1 day per week in the Dublin office. These working parameters may change depending on business needs.
Perks and culture
- Flexible Fridays, with the option to finish at 1pm by distributing only three hours across the week.
- Opportunity to work across different departments in an agile company environment.
- An inclusive workplace that welcomes people from diverse backgrounds and does not discriminate on the basis of gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, civil or family status, age, disability, or race.
