Role overview

Crestwood Partners is recruiting on behalf of a confidential North American metals manufacturer for a Product Manager focused on the aluminum portfolio. This is a high-visibility, customer-facing position that connects sales, operations, supply chain, suppliers, and senior leadership. The person in this role will serve as a technical and commercial partner to the sales team, helping customers work through aluminum product, processing, and application challenges.

This opportunity is best suited to someone who understands aluminum products and has hands-on exposure to engineering or value-added metal processes such as machining, sawing, cutting, fabrication, welding, plating, anodizing, CNC, extrusion, or similar manufacturing methods.

This is not a purely office-based product management position. The role calls for someone who is comfortable engaging directly with customers, visiting facilities, learning operational capabilities, and translating product expertise into commercial growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribute to the expansion and advancement of the aluminum product line throughout North America.
  • Work alongside sales teams during customer visits, technical conversations, and solution-led selling activities.
  • Guide customers through product choices, processing approaches, and value-added service capabilities.
  • Collaborate with operations to assess capacity, workflow, constraints, quality concerns, and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Assist with quoting, pricing, inventory planning, contract conversations, and product positioning.
  • Develop trusted relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Track product results, sales activity, margins, inventory, service performance, and operational KPIs.
  • Spot opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and grow value-added revenue.
  • Deliver training, direction, and product support to sales and operations teams.
  • Travel regularly across the United States and Canada to support customers, branches, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Ideal background

The employer is looking for someone with strong knowledge of aluminum products and relevant experience in metals distribution, service centers, aluminum manufacturing, engineered products, fabrication, extrusion, machining, aerospace metals, industrial materials, or a closely related environment.

Experience with engineering or value-added processes such as machining, cutting, sawing, fabrication, welding, plating, anodizing, CNC, extrusion, or comparable activities is highly desirable.

The right candidate should bring commercial confidence, the ability to support sales teams, and the skills needed to present practical solutions to customers. A solid grasp of inventory management, pricing, supplier relationships, product performance, and operational impact is also important.

Success in this role will require close collaboration across sales, operations, purchasing, supply chain, and leadership. The candidate should be comfortable reviewing data, identifying trends, and turning insights into action.

Willingness and ability to travel across North America are required. A degree is preferred, although substantial industry experience will be valued highly.

Why this opportunity stands out

This is a rare chance to take on a national aluminum-focused role with meaningful influence over product strategy, customer development, operational improvement, and long-term business growth. The company is seeking someone who can become a trusted internal specialist: commercially strong enough to support sales, technically grounded enough to understand aluminum and processing challenges, and practical enough to work closely with operations.
