Key duties

  • Unlock and secure the store when management is unavailable, complete system start-up tasks, handle opening cash procedures, prepare the sales floor and stockroom, and open the rear door for deliveries.

  • Assist with bookkeeping tasks such as cash reports, cash counts, ledgers, and bill payments when needed.
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe store inside and outside, and request repairs when management is absent or as directed.
  • Follow policies for separating food items, stocking products correctly, rotating consumable inventory using FIFO, and replenishing out-of-stock items.
  • Use store systems and equipment effectively.
  • Assist at the pharmacy window when requested.
  • Ensure regulated products are handled in line with state and local requirements, including alcohol and tobacco rules.
  • Perform bag checks for team members before they leave the store.
  • Follow company policies, maintain respectful workplace relationships, complete assigned special projects, and take on other duties as needed.
  • Act as the communication link between management and non-management staff when leadership is unavailable, and relay assigned tasks to the team.
  • Escalate disciplinary concerns and customer complaints to management.

Training and development

  • Attend assigned training sessions and complete required PPLs requested by the manager.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of prior experience in leadership, supervision, or a retail key-holder role.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently, except where not required in Puerto Rico.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control is preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain and keep a valid PTCB certification or pharmacy license if required by the state.
