Shift Supervisor

Position Overview

The Shift Supervisor role is an operational leadership position responsible for guiding team activity during a shift. The focus is on delivering high standards across people management, product presentation, cleanliness, and an exceptional guest experience.

People Management

• Set the tone for respectful behavior by showing consideration to both colleagues and guests at all times.
• Address shift-related concerns quickly and without delay.
• Give clear, ongoing, and task-specific direction to team members.
• Create a lively, engaging workplace that helps the team stay motivated and work toward targets.
• Train, introduce, and observe new team members as they settle into the role.
• Share team performance updates, both positive and negative, with the Store Manager.
• Help maintain appropriate staffing levels and step into different roles during peak periods to keep service running smoothly.

Guest Service and Hospitality

• Model guest-first behavior and reinforce strong hospitality standards within the team.
• Respond courteously and promptly to guest needs while maintaining a sense of urgency.
• Handle guest complaints in a timely way and work to convert negative experiences into positive outcomes.

Operations Management

• Follow and enforce all operating standards of the brand.
• Make sure products and packaging are displayed correctly and stocked properly.
• Oversee shift cash handling procedures.
• Use the work schedule effectively to maintain efficient store operations.
• Supervise completion of primary and secondary duties by team members.
• Ensure that store rules and policies are followed throughout the shift, including cash handling, meal and break rules, and food safety requirements.
• Stay updated on new product launches, promotions, and discount schemes.
• Support the Store Manager in improving sales and transaction volume during the shift.
• Complete all required shift records, including waste logs, manager walk-throughs, and store checklists.
• Escalate operational issues or problems to the immediate supervisor when needed.

Health and Safety

• Understand and follow safe work methods and procedures.
• Use required protective equipment and clothing whenever necessary.
• Report injuries, illnesses, accidents, unsafe conditions, security incidents, and any violation of health and safety rules to the Store Manager or Area Manager.
• Avoid any action that could put people at risk while operating equipment or performing duties.
• Ensure health and safety requirements are followed during the shift, including reporting and documentation of incidents and workplace injuries.

Cashiering

• Check that store equipment is working properly and monitor technical devices used in the outlet.
• Count the cash drawer at the start of the shift to confirm the correct amount and sufficient change are available.
• Accept payments through cash, card, vouchers, or automatic debits as required.
• Issue receipts, refunds, and change accurately when needed.
• Keep checkout areas neat, clean, and organized.
