Role Overview
The company is looking for a Site Engineer to join its Cork area operations. The role focuses on managing the engineering side of site activity, ensuring accurate setting out, coordinated delivery, and strong standards across safety, quality, and execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the engineering duties on site, with a strong focus on setting out and achieving accurate levels throughout the project.
- Work closely with consultants, subcontractors, supervisors, and site teams to ensure information is clear, accurate, and properly understood.
- Assess detailed designs, raise issues where needed, and communicate with designers so the construction team has the right information.
- Support the progression of design information from designer details through to approved workshop drawings and subcontractor technical submissions.
- Interpret drawings for layouts, material quantities, and related construction requirements.
- Plan site activities efficiently so programme deadlines are met without sacrificing safety, quality, or project integrity.
- Manage the ordering, tracking, and control of materials delivered to site.
- Keep accurate site documentation linked to engineering activities.
- Check plans and drawings and ensure setting-out coordination is implemented correctly.
- Attend routine project meetings and maintain ongoing communication with the wider team.
- Support safety, sustainability, quality management, and BCAR coordination.
- Monitor quality and safety on site to ensure compliance with regulations, best practice, and internal standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- A degree in Engineering, or an equivalent qualification, is required.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a comparable role is expected.
- The ideal candidate should be structured, technically strong, and confident in solving problems.
- Experience working with clients and consultants in an engineering capacity is important.
- Comfort supervising site operations and engaging with project teams is necessary.
- Ability to work well in a team and build productive relationships across all levels.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential.
- Fluency in English is required.
