PepsiCo is seeking a Site Security Coordinator for Eastern Cape to be stationed at Britos Bakery in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. The position supports the protection of people, assets, operations, and brand reputation across three premises covering approximately 550 full-time employees.

What the role involves

This position works with business leadership, the Global Security Director, the PepsiCo Office of Global Security, and area security management to put security strategy into action at site level. The role is expected to respond to emerging threats, support business continuity, and help ensure that the assigned premises remain secure and compliant.

Key accountabilities

  • Put the site security plan into practice so that risks to employees, facilities, sensitive information, and brand reputation are identified, assessed, and reduced.
  • Act as part of the site crisis management team and support security-related actions within business continuity plans.
  • Confirm that the site remains aligned with security requirements across technology, procedures, guarding, and physical design.
  • Build effective working relationships with local leadership and provide practical security guidance when needed.
  • Plan and carry out periodic self-assessments and twice-yearly security risk reviews, then help close gaps through cost-conscious, effective improvements.
  • Maintain relationships with law enforcement, emergency response teams, regulatory bodies, and security managers from other major multinational companies.
  • Support compliance with the PepsiCo EMEA Security Risk Management System and related standards and procedures.
  • Help deliver security awareness sessions for employees and training for security personnel.
  • Provide advice and support before, during, and after security incidents, including immediate risk assessment and guidance to site leaders.
  • Assist with security planning to strengthen supply chain protection across make, move, and sell operations.
  • Help lead and coordinate investigations involving counterfeit products, extortion, contamination, losses, kidnapping, robberies, Speak Up matters, fraud, corruption, and threats to the company or its people.
  • Support strike and labor-dispute situations by training guards and employees on strike protocols.
  • Oversee contracted security providers, manage service costs through efficient scale, and run a KPI-based performance system with monthly reviews.
  • Support the ongoing development of the security team, including identifying talent for future succession needs.
  • Ensure security policies, site plans, and SOPs are implemented consistently.
  • Escalate incidents immediately to the line manager and prepare reports according to security policy.
  • Review CCTV footage daily to detect anomalies or irregularities.
  • Work with the Control Room Coordinator to provide evidence for security incidents and support EHS with safety-incident evidence when needed.

Qualifications and experience

  • At least 5 years of overall work experience, including 3 years in private-sector security, preferably in an industrial setting.
  • Practical understanding of security best practices, principles, and objectives.
  • PSIRA Grade A certification.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
  • Comfort working collaboratively with a team.
  • Ability to perform effectively in a demanding environment and remain connected around the clock.
  • Good planning and organization skills, with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks.
