Role overview

HCLTech is looking for a technically strong Business Orchestration & Automation subject matter expert to join the team in Bengaluru. In this mid-level position, you will act as the key link between business teams and technology groups, turning operational problems into scalable automation solutions. The role involves shaping, building, and improving end-to-end workflows using BPM, RPA, and integration tools to deliver clear efficiency gains and business impact.

Key responsibilities

You will be expected to own the automation lifecycle from discovery through deployment and continuous improvement. This includes working with stakeholders to uncover automation opportunities, designing current and future state processes, and leading delivery through build, test, release, and optimization.

Process analysis and design

• Run discovery workshops with business stakeholders to identify where orchestration and automation can add value.
• Map existing and target workflows using BPMN 2.0 and DMN standards.
• Use process mining and value stream analysis to estimate gains in time, cost, and error reduction.
• Prepare process design documents, business requirements, and functional specification documents.

Automation and orchestration development

• Design, develop, test, and deploy automated workflows using at least one RPA platform.
• Work hands-on with a BPM or orchestration platform.
• Model and review complex workflows independently using BPMN 2.0.
• Connect enterprise systems through APIs, middleware, or iPaaS solutions.
• Build event-driven and human-in-the-loop flow patterns to manage exceptions and escalations.
• Make sure automation solutions follow security, compliance, and data governance expectations.

Delivery and continuous improvement

• Manage the full automation lifecycle: discovery, design, build, test, deploy, monitor.
• Set and measure KPIs for released automations, such as SLA adherence, FTE savings, error reduction, and throughput.
• Conduct post-launch reviews and keep improving live workflows using performance data.
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and support transition material.

Stakeholder and team engagement

• Serve as a trusted advisor to business teams on automation feasibility and strategy.
• Partner with IT Architecture, Data, and Security teams to align with platform and governance needs.
• Guide and mentor junior analysts and developers on automation methods and tools.
• Present recommendations and ROI analysis to senior leaders and management.

Requirements and qualifications

• At least 6 years of experience in AI orchestration, enterprise automation, or workflow design.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Strong process analysis and process design capability.
• Experience with at least one RPA tool and a BPM/orchestration platform.
• Ability to work independently on BPMN 2.0 process modelling and workflow review.
• Experience integrating systems through APIs, middleware, or iPaaS platforms.
• Understanding of security, compliance, and data governance in automation delivery.
• Ability to lead stakeholders, mentor teammates, and communicate business value clearly.

Preferred experience

• Exposure to a business domain such as finance, healthcare, supply chain, HR, or legal.
• Experience with hyperautomation or intelligent automation, including IDP and AI-augmented flows.
• Ability to script in Python or JavaScript for automation enhancements.
