About Precision Machining
Precision Machining Ltd is an expanding precision engineering business based in Hamilton. The company produces high-quality components for advanced manufacturing and aerospace clients.
Role overview
This position is a practical, technically focused role that sits across machining, CNC programming, workshop coordination, and operational support. You will work with the Operations Manager to help keep the workshop running smoothly and improve overall performance.
This opportunity would suit an experienced CNC machinist, programmer, or engineer who is ready to move into a role with more responsibility in operations and leadership.
Key responsibilities
- Support production planning and coordinate workshop workflow
- Create CNC programs using Mastercam and Fusion 360
- Examine engineering drawings and SolidWorks models
- Organise tooling, raw materials, and shop consumables
- Assist with quotations, cost estimates, and customer enquiries
- Contribute to quality assurance activities and improvement projects
- Step into hands-on machining tasks when needed
- Partner with the Operations Manager to strengthen efficiency and delivery results
What we are looking for
The ideal candidate will bring strong CNC machining experience, along with CAM programming capability. Familiarity with Mastercam is preferred, and experience using Fusion 360 and/or SolidWorks is also important. You should be comfortable interpreting engineering drawings, working in a structured workshop environment, and communicating clearly with both customers and shop-floor staff.
A proactive mindset and a willingness to learn are essential. Background experience in quoting, scheduling, or workshop leadership would be helpful, but it is not a requirement.
