Role overview

This is a full-time, permanent night-shift opportunity at the Grange Park site in Northampton (NN4 5FB). The working pattern is Sunday to Thursday, with shifts typically running from around 22:00 to 06:30, although timings may shift slightly depending on operational requirements.

What the job involves

The Transport Operator will be responsible for coordinating deliveries and collections so customer orders move smoothly from the Northampton site. Working under the Transport Supervisor, the role requires close communication with drivers to make sure customer requests are handled efficiently and on time.

You will also carry out driver pre-briefs and debriefs, document any issues or irregularities, update paperwork, and escalate concerns, variances, or problems to the line manager without delay.

• Follow all health, safety, and required transport procedures at all times.
• Support audit activity and KPI tracking.
• Help ensure driver compliance and provide guidance where needed on WTR legislation.

What we're looking for

Applicants should bring prior transport operator experience and practical route-planning knowledge. A good working understanding of transport procedures, including WTD and EU driver regulations, is important, along with familiarity with fleet management tasks such as maintenance and servicing.

The ideal candidate will have strong communication and customer service skills, stay composed under pressure, adapt quickly when plans change, and take a proactive approach to spotting and resolving potential issues.
