About the Role
ABB is looking for a Warehouse Manager to lead warehouse activities in Napier, Hawke's Bay, New Zealand. In this position, you will be responsible for planning and overseeing the full flow of warehouse operations, including receiving, storing, picking, and dispatching products, systems, and services to customers. The role reports to the Planning and Fulfillment Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage the yearly warehouse budget and ensure spending stays within approved limits.
- Lead warehouse staff and align daily activities to make the best use of resources while addressing cost-related issues when needed.
- Strengthen warehouse performance by introducing lean methods and continuous improvement practices.
- Plan warehouse space usage and inventory to improve efficiency.
- Coordinate and track storage, deliveries, and order dispatch while keeping stock systems accurate and current.
- Supervise inventory control activities and order processing.
- Make sure the team understands and follows ABB’s values, safety expectations, and integrity standards.
- Implement ABB’s code of conduct, global and local rules, policies, tools, and procedures within the assigned area.
- Ensure full compliance with internal rules as well as statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain ethical conduct and uphold ABB’s values in every activity.
- Take responsibility for the health and safety of employees and contractors, and drive ongoing improvement in Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) performance and integrity.
Team and Reporting Structure
You will lead a warehouse team and work closely with the Planning and Fulfillment Manager. The role calls for a leadership approach that builds trust, encourages collaboration across the division, and supports a safe, efficient, and reliable operation. You will be expected to coach, motivate, and develop the team to achieve strong results.
What You Should Bring
- Strong leadership ability with a track record of building and guiding high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for working with stakeholders and team members.
- Experience in warehouse operations, inventory control, or logistics, along with a history of managing staff and day-to-day operations.
- Exposure to lean methods and process improvement is an advantage.
- Budget ownership experience and sound financial judgment.
- Working knowledge of warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control practices.
- Ability to work safely and maintain compliance with HSE requirements and regulations.
- Strong planning, organization, and data accuracy skills with close attention to detail.
