Role overview
This role sits within the customer service function and reports operationally to the Customer Service Manager. The position is responsible for overseeing the movement of goods through the warehouse, including receiving, storing, issuing, and maintaining accurate stock records and inventory control documentation.
Core duties
- Carry out warehouse and storekeeping activities such as receiving, identifying, handling, storing, and issuing customer stock.
- Record every stock receipt and stock issue promptly in the relevant physical stock binders for each client.
- Work in line with warehouse operating procedures, Good Warehousing Practice, and the SOPs/SLAs agreed with clients.
- Select suitable storage locations and organize stock layout to make the best use of available warehouse space.
- Unpack incoming shipments, assemble items where needed, and verify condition, quantity, and item type against shipping paperwork, attaching stock labels where required.
- Release warehouse stock against approved requisitions as needed.
- Coordinate with the Customer Service Manager and client representatives to set delivery priorities and delivery destinations.
- Work with the Quality Assurance Pharmacist and Customer Service Manager to keep stock expiry records updated, including damaged and expired inventory, and move such items to the quarantine area.
- Report damaged, expired, and faulty stock to the Customer Service Manager and Quality Assurance Pharmacist, ensuring these items are kept physically separate from usable inventory.
Inventory reporting
- Perform physical stock counts regularly and resolve any differences between physical and recorded inventory without delay.
- Escalate all stock variances to the Customer Service Manager within 24 hours.
- Provide accurate physical stock records whenever they are requested.
Warehousing standards and asset care
- Ensure all warehouse processes follow client SOPs and SLAs.
- Maintain Good Warehousing Practices at all times.
- Support safe storage conditions, including correct temperature control and handling methods for stock.
- Monitor warehouse safety, security, and cleanliness, and report issues accordingly.
- Protect company assets from negligence, mishandling, and fraudulent activity.
- Supervise forklift and other material handling equipment operators involved in receiving, storing, and dispatching goods within the warehouse.
Health, safety, and environment
- Promote a strong safety culture in line with the MDS HSEQ policy and guidelines.
- Take part in TQS and HSE meetings and complete agreed action points.

Experience and tools
The role calls for 1 to 2 years of post-qualification experience in warehousing, inventory control, storekeeping, or customer service. Exposure to warehouse management systems, stock control processes, workflow management, and Microsoft Office or similar software is also required.
