Electrical Engineer

Role Overview

We are hiring an Electrical Engineer for a site-based role in Saudi Arabia, specifically in Riyadh. This position supports the execution of electrical works by helping review design information, coordinating on-site activities, and following up on construction and technical matters. The engineer will work under the supervision of the Senior Electrical Engineer and report to the Design Manager.

The role is focused on day-to-day site delivery and includes troubleshooting construction issues, supporting technical workflows, and making sure the work is carried out in line with approved drawings, specifications, and project expectations. It also requires practical drafting support using CAD/BIM tools when needed, such as preparing sketches, mark-ups, redline drawings, cable routing adjustments, containment coordination, and temporary power solutions, so that site issues can be resolved quickly without depending heavily on separate drafting support.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide daily electrical engineering support at site level by handling construction queries, RFIs, and technical clarifications.
• Check electrical works such as power distribution, lighting, ELV systems, containment, and earthing to confirm they match approved drawings and specifications.
• Spot site discrepancies, technical issues, or non-conforming work and escalate them to the Senior Electrical Engineer.
• Coordinate electrical activities with architectural, structural, mechanical, and fit-out teams to prevent clashes and execution problems.
• Support inspection, testing, and commissioning activities for electrical systems.
• Prepare and revise sketches, mark-ups, and simple electrical details using CAD tools to assist site execution.
• Help develop redline drawings and as-built markups based on actual site conditions.
• Provide hands-on drafting support with AutoCAD, Revit, or BIM tools when needed to solve site issues efficiently.
• Ensure drawings and sketches issued for site use are clear, coordinated, and aligned with the approved design intent.
• Review electrical shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements under supervision.
• Check compliance with design intent, project specifications, and required standards.
• Support the preparation of technical comments and track the progress of submittals.
• Confirm that approved drawings and materials are properly implemented on site.
• Assist with the preparation and checking of electrical as-built drawings and related documentation.
• Help draft responses to RFIs, technical queries, and site clarification requests.
• Support the investigation and closure of NCRs, observations, and quality-related issues.
• Work with the Senior Electrical Engineer to resolve technical and coordination matters.
• Maintain records of technical correspondence and site decisions.
• Coordinate electrical matters with site engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers.
• Liaise with architectural, structural, mechanical, and other discipline teams to support coordinated delivery.
• Attend coordination meetings and provide progress updates to senior team members.
• Use document control systems and project workflows correctly.
• Build understanding of electrical systems, installation methods, and coordination processes.
• Contribute to lessons learned and ongoing improvement initiatives.
• Seek guidance from senior engineers and share knowledge with the team where appropriate.
• Promote strong practices in electrical construction quality and execution.

Requirements

• 4 to 7 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering within construction or design-build environments.
• Prior exposure to electrical works involving power, lighting, and ELV systems.
• Working understanding of multidisciplinary coordination and construction workflows.
• Experience with shop drawings, RFIs, and site execution processes.
• Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Professional certification is considered an added advantage, though it is not compulsory.
• Ability to use AutoCAD, Revit, and BIM coordination tools.
• Capability to prepare and revise basic electrical drawings and details for site delivery.
• Solid understanding of electrical systems including power, lighting, ELV, containment, and earthing.
• Ability to read, interpret, and assess electrical drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with coordination workflows and document control systems.
• Strong documentation, organization, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Good problem-solving ability.
