About the Role
DHL Global Forwarding, Freight (DGFF) is the air, ocean, and road freight division of DHL Group, serving customers across multiple industries around the world. The company operates in more than 220 countries and has been leading cross-border express shipping since 1969.
This opportunity is for a Pricing Specialist based in Kampala, Uganda. The position is focused on shaping and delivering AFR, OFR, and RFR pricing approaches, as well as managing RFQ and tender activity. The goal is to provide pricing that is timely, accurate, competitive, and aligned with business goals, customer expectations, and internal policies. The role also requires active cooperation with carriers and internal stakeholders, support for business growth, and a continuous focus on pricing efficiency and profitability.
Key Duties
- Help implement plans and operating routines that support the AFR/OFR pricing approach.
- Respond to pricing requests quickly and in a commercially competitive way.
- Carry out assigned tasks efficiently while using resources well and supporting daily productivity.
- Monitor local tariffs on time and keep them updated accurately.
- Prepare the documents needed for tender submissions.
- Maintain databases containing relevant information so network-related queries can be answered promptly.
- Develop and strengthen working relationships with customers and airlines.
- Compile carrier performance reports and review them as needed.
- Look for ways to improve services and internal processes, secure competitive cost levels, and negotiate rates with airline suppliers while meeting service and transit-time expectations.
- Stay informed about new solutions, services, lane changes, and traffic developments.
- Where needed, provide guidance, advice, or training to less experienced colleagues.
- Investigate recurring issues and propose improvements to AFR/OFR pricing methods.
- Identify opportunities to grow business with new customers and improve internal customer service.
- Handle IP pricing requirements for special cargo.
- Manage global RFQs.
Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of AFR, OFR, and RFR logistics and operations.
- Broad understanding of global logistics and geography.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to understand customer needs and respond in a prompt, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Commercially minded approach.
- Solid administrative capability.
- Strong focus on results and accuracy.
- Comfort using computers and Microsoft Office tools.
- Basic financial understanding, including revenue, cost, and gross profit.
- Experience with CargoWise.
- At least 2 years of relevant experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
