Description de l'emploi
Role overview
malomatia is seeking a Data Scientist to work from Doha, Qatar in a full-time onsite role. The position focuses on turning complex data into practical insights and model-driven solutions that support client and operational decision-making.
What you will do
- Investigate datasets to identify meaningful patterns, relationships, and business opportunities.
- Develop, train, and assess predictive and descriptive models with Python and SQL.
- Where appropriate, create and test deep learning solutions using tools such as TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Prepare data through cleaning, transformation, and feature engineering so it is ready for modeling.
- Plan and evaluate experiments, including A/B testing, to understand the effect of changes or interventions.
- Build quick prototypes, refine them through feedback, and improve the solution iteratively.
- Present insights through visuals, dashboards, and concise summaries that are easy to act on.
- Check model quality with suitable metrics while preventing overfitting and data leakage.
- Record assumptions, methods, and outcomes in a clear way so work can be reproduced and shared.
- Work closely with senior data scientists, engineers, and analysts on broader initiatives.
- Help prepare analytical reports and presentations for both internal teams and clients.
- Keep existing notebooks and analytical code up to date and improved.
Must-have qualifications
- 3 to 5 years of experience in data science, analytics, or a quantitative modeling function.
- Strong practical skills in Python, especially pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn, along with SQL.
- Proven experience designing experiments, checking model performance, and avoiding overfitting and leakage.
- Strong habits around documentation, clarity, and reproducible analysis.
- Ability to explain technical findings to both specialist and non-technical audiences.
Preferred background
- Experience using visualization tools such as matplotlib, seaborn, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Exposure to cloud-based analytics setups, ideally Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.
- Experience working with time-series data or natural-language datasets.
- Comfort with collaborative development processes and code review.
- Prior involvement with engineering teams during model handoff.
- Data science certifications are an added advantage.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related quantitative field; a Master's degree is beneficial.
- Working knowledge of statistics and machine-learning methods such as regression, classification, and clustering.
- Hands-on understanding of deep learning ideas and frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Ability to prepare real-world datasets that may be incomplete, messy, or inconsistent.
- Knowledge of model evaluation methods and validation techniques.
- Familiarity with Git and reproducible analytical workflows.
