About the role

It is now looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join a high-security, mission-driven program supporting a critical cyber security initiative.
This position sits within a multidisciplinary team and focuses on building, deploying and maintaining secure cloud infrastructure, introducing automation and CI/CD practices, and strengthening the overall software delivery lifecycle. The work is centred on reliability, scalability and security for mission-critical systems. This is a 12-month contract role based in Brisbane, Melbourne or Canberra.
What you will do
- Plan, implement and support secure, scalable cloud environments across AWS and Azure.
- Create, improve and maintain CI/CD pipelines with tools such as Jenkins and GitLab CI.
- Set up Infrastructure as Code and configuration management using Terraform, Ansible and CloudFormation.
- Write automation scripts and supporting tools in Python, Bash and PowerShell to improve operational efficiency.
- Deploy and manage container-based applications with Docker and Kubernetes.
- Track performance, reliability and security through logging, alerting and incident response activities.
- Work closely with software engineers, cloud specialists and stakeholders to resolve issues and simplify delivery workflows.
- Support continuous improvement efforts, documentation, knowledge sharing and uplift of DevOps practices across the team.
What you should bring
- Proven background in designing and supporting cloud and hybrid infrastructure.
- Strong working knowledge of AWS and/or Azure and their related services.
- Practical experience with IaC and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible or CloudFormation.
- Demonstrated success building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab CI or similar tools.
- Solid scripting and automation capability in Python, Bash and/or PowerShell.
- Hands-on experience running containerised workloads on Docker and Kubernetes.
- Good understanding of networking, systems engineering, cloud service models and security fundamentals.
- Experience using monitoring, logging and observability platforms such as Prometheus, ELK Stack or comparable tools.
- Ability to solve complex problems and work effectively in high-security environments.
- Current Top Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) clearance, or the ability to satisfy all eligibility requirements for the role.
