Role Summary

The Assistant Chemist will handle receiving checks, in-process checks, and outgoing inspection activities, while also reviewing results with statistical methods to identify any trends that may indicate a deviation.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out acceptance testing on incoming materials, work-in-progress intermediates, and finished products.
• Examine customer RTV items and internal retain samples to help investigate complaints and resolve process issues.
• Support quality control measurements for engineering trials, product ramp-up activities, and technology transfer work.
• Monitor SPC trends and alert production engineering when unusual patterns are detected.
• Release Production Batch Tickets to manufacturing through the JDE ARS system.
• Provide guidance to production teams on rework methods.
• Perform calibration and routine upkeep of laboratory instruments.
• Carry out periodic Measurement System Analysis.
• Work with vendors for equipment maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting.
• Prepare monthly SPC reports for customers.
• Create COA documentation through LIMS.
• Compile monthly scrap reports.
• Act as an internal auditor for QMS, EMS, and OHSAS management systems.
• Maintain a clean and orderly laboratory environment at all times.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.
• Be available for overtime when needed.

Requirements

• A diploma or degree in Chemistry, along with 1 to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Prior exposure to a chemistry laboratory environment and experience handling chemical samples is preferred.
• Capability to operate analytical equipment with limited supervision.
• Willingness to work overtime when required.
• Ability to understand safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance guidance, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to prepare routine reports and written correspondence.
• Comfort speaking effectively in front of customers or internal teams.
• A self-driven, cooperative, and detail-oriented approach.
