Role overview
This position is based at the manufacturing facility in Jhajjar, Haryana, where you will help ensure uninterrupted plant operations and a safe working environment. The company is on a growth path in India and is expanding its presence at the Jhajjar site within Reliance MET township.
In this role, you will take ownership of facility and maintenance operations across the campus, with responsibility for mechanical and electrical services, fire protection systems, energy management systems, utilities, and plant infrastructure. The role also involves supporting production efficiency, strengthening maintenance processes, and ensuring compliance with applicable safety and technical standards.
Core scope of work
You will be expected to develop and improve departmental procedures, prioritize scheduled services, and ensure that critical systems remain fully functional at all times. This includes fire panels, smoke and heat detectors, sprinklers, pumps, emergency generator and power systems, energy management devices, solar power, electric vehicle support for plant operations, material handling equipment, and MEP systems such as HT/LT, HVAC, water, and fire systems.
Key responsibilities
- Set up, manage, and refine maintenance practices for production lines so that output consistently meets or exceeds budgeted efficiency targets.
- Build and sustain quality benchmarks for operations and maintenance activities.
- Oversee utility services, annual maintenance contracts, and preventive maintenance for equipment such as air conditioning units, gensets, water treatment plants, and electrical systems to keep production running smoothly.
- Manage manufacturing assets, facility consumables, purchase order tracking, invoice approvals, and department budgets.
- Prepare and implement standard operating procedures for operator-led maintenance activities.
- Maintain strong control over the ANDON system used in plant operations.
- Train maintenance staff and support their ongoing development.
- Develop associate and supervisor capability through training sessions, one-on-one coaching, external technical training, and structured performance reviews.
- Complete and verify performance evaluations for direct reports at least twice a year.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate is structured, dependable, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment. You should bring hands-on leadership in building operations, maintenance programs, vendor management, safety compliance, and workplace services, preferably from a defence, precision engineering, chemical, or heavy-industry setting, especially within a European manufacturing environment.
You should be well versed in facility systems such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, housekeeping, security, and infrastructure management. Strong capability in cost control, preventive maintenance planning, compliance management, budget ownership, risk reduction, and team leadership is essential.

Required qualifications
- Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering from a reputed institute.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in precision engineering manufacturing within defence, chemical, or heavy industry, ideally in a European manufacturing setup.
- At least 3 years of independent responsibility as a Maintenance Manager in a mid-sized factory.
- Strong command of written and spoken Hindi and English, with the ability to communicate effectively with the workforce.
- Practical knowledge of SCADA systems, PLC programming, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with maintenance scheduling software.
- Working knowledge of European standards including EN50110, EN60204-1, EN-61439, EN60364, EN50699, and EN50522.
- Understanding of European machine directives such as Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU, Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Work Equipment Directive 20009/104/EC, along with comparable Indian standards.
- Hands-on exposure to shop floor machines and utility equipment maintenance.
- Ability to diagnose machine problems and apply practical solutions.
- Experience in planning preventive and proactive maintenance schedules.
- Commitment to maintaining a clean and safe workplace.
- Experience liaising with government and utility authorities such as the Electricity Board, Water Supply authorities, and waste disposal agencies.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, Factory Act compliance, NBC India fire safety standards, and Central Electricity Authority regulations.
