Role summary
The Housekeeper will maintain cleanliness across client rooms, offices, and shared indoor spaces throughout the facility. The role includes removing used cups, glasses, and dinnerware from common areas, straightening furniture and pillows, and clearing waste from offices, the nurses’ station, and restrooms.
Key duties
- Prepare, clean, organize, and restore the assigned cart each day.
- Collect and return daily task assignment sheets.
- Maintain assigned public spaces to required cleanliness standards.
- Remove soiled linens and trash, replace liners, and place items in the correct locations.
- Dust occupied and unoccupied units as needed.
- Thoroughly clean bathrooms and restock supplies such as tissue, soap, and paper towels.
- Discharge-clean all required bed areas to standard.
- Replenish amenities for new admissions, including towels, cosmetics, and similar items.
- Identify and report maintenance concerns in units and shared areas.
- Perform deep-cleaning tasks in assigned units.
- Complete daily cleaning in offices, therapy rooms, group rooms, nurses’ stations, lobbies, stairwells, corridors, and public baths.
- Report any carpets that require shampooing.
- Wash, dry, and fold linens.
- Keep the housekeeping supply room tidy and orderly.
- Gather cups, drinking glasses, and other dishes left in common areas and return them to the kitchen.
- Carry out any additional housekeeping-related work assigned by the manager.
Education and experience
A high school diploma or GED is preferred. The role calls for at least 2 years of experience in hospitality or cleaning services related to maintaining interior spaces.
Skills and working requirements
The candidate should be able to read and interpret written information, write clearly, communicate effectively in a variety of situations, listen carefully, seek clarification when needed, and participate in meetings. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. The schedule must allow for overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible hours.
Physical demands and environment
This position requires continual sitting, use of hands and fingers, talking or hearing, and smell, with frequent standing, walking, and reaching. Occasional climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, and crouching may be needed. The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs and occasional lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. Close vision is necessary for computer screens, paperwork, and office machines, while distance vision may be needed if driving is part of the role. Work is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled setting, though occasional exposure to outdoor weather may occur. Noise levels are moderate, similar to a standard office or household environment.
