Vancouver Coastal Health is hiring a Housekeeping Aide for Richmond Hospital in Richmond, British Columbia. Compensation

The pay for this role is CAD 25.82 per hour.

What you will do

The Housekeeping Aide carries out a range of cleaning and environmental services tasks across the facility. Work includes damp dusting, wet and dry mopping, floor care and refinishing with the right equipment, cleaning and disinfecting ceilings, walls, vents, washrooms, beds, furniture, and equipment, handling regular and biomedical waste, cleaning spills, making beds, and keeping the site clean in line with organizational policies, procedures, and routines.

About Environmental Services

Environmental Services is more than standard housekeeping or janitorial work. In a hospital setting, the team helps protect patients, visitors, and employees by performing medical-grade cleaning and disinfection. The team works with infection control and patient care staff to clean clinical and non-clinical areas such as patient rooms, offices, washrooms, and shared spaces. Duties also include removing garbage, recycling, soiled linen, and biohazard waste, vacuuming carpets, polishing floors, and disinfecting beds and walls.

Education and experience

Applicants should have Grade 10 education or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.

Important conditions

Working hours, days off, and the assigned work area may change based on operational needs and in accordance with the Collective Agreement and applicable laws. Candidates selected for the role may need to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

Under Ministry of Health policy, health care workers in publicly funded facilities must report previous vaccination history or prior infections for certain diseases. This information is collected during onboarding so missing vaccines can be offered and appropriate steps can be taken if there is future exposure or an outbreak.
