Mathnasium Instructor

About the role

The Mathnasium Instructor delivers mathematics lessons using the Mathnasium Method and helps create a supportive, confidence-building learning experience for each student. The role combines strong math instruction with a highly personalized, service-oriented approach, ensuring students receive the right guidance for their individual needs.

Working within a collaborative team-teaching setup, the instructor supports the center by balancing teaching, student engagement, progress tracking, and selected non-teaching duties. The position is central to both instructional quality and the overall customer experience at the center.

What you will do

• Teach students using Mathnasium’s methodology, terminology, and approved instructional practices.
• Keep students motivated, involved, and attentive throughout each session.
• Assess student progress and maintain clear records of development.
• Review student work and offer encouraging, constructive corrections.
• Help students stay focused and redirect attention when needed.
• Support a positive classroom atmosphere by managing behavior effectively.
• Share student concerns and learning needs with center leadership and fellow instructors.
• Assist with non-teaching responsibilities such as cleaning, administrative help, curriculum preparation, and other assigned tasks.

What the role calls for

Successful instructors are strong in mathematics, at least through Algebra I. Those supporting high school students are expected to have deeper capability through Algebra II, trigonometry, and more advanced math topics. Candidates should be open to training and willing to adopt the Mathnasium approach to instruction.

The role also requires someone who can explain concepts clearly, create an enjoyable learning environment, build rapport with students, and sustain enthusiasm throughout lessons. Since multiple students may be working at once, the instructor must be able to switch smoothly between learners, monitor several lessons simultaneously, and document progress accurately.

Professionalism is essential when working with students, parents, and teammates. The instructor should communicate politely, project confidence in the program, and serve as a positive role model that reflects the value of strong mathematical skills.
