Role overview
We are looking for a Privacy Manager based in Germany to support a fast-paced, internationally operating business at the crossroads of law, technology, and innovation. In this position, you will help embed privacy, AI governance, and data protection practices across products, services, and commercial workstreams. You will work closely with engineering, product, legal, security, and commercial stakeholders to make sure privacy-by-design is applied in day-to-day decisions while enabling business growth in a complex global data environment.
This is a high-impact opportunity for someone who enjoys advising teams, reducing risk, and helping shape trusted products and processes for global markets. The role is remote-friendly and offers broad exposure to cloud-based infrastructure, AI-enabled solutions, and international regulatory challenges.
Key accountabilities
- Offer specialist privacy, AI governance, and data protection advice to marketing, sales, IT, product, and operations teams on regional and global programs.
- Lead and review privacy risk assessments, including due diligence for vendors such as cloud providers, infrastructure partners, and other third-party service providers.
- Support international data transfer compliance by working with tools and frameworks such as SCCs, TIAs, and adequacy decisions.
- Guide product and architecture teams on applying privacy-by-design and privacy-by-default principles throughout development and technical decisions.
- Prepare, update, and review privacy materials such as DPIAs, RoPAs, policies, notices, FAQs, and internal governance documents.
- Provide legal and compliance input for SaaS, licensing, and data processing agreements.
- Work alongside security, risk, and engineering teams to manage privacy incidents, data breaches, and required regulatory notifications within deadlines.
- Contribute to privacy and data governance work related to AI and emerging technologies, with a focus on responsible and compliant use.
- Advise marketing teams on lawful handling of customer data across digital marketing, advertising, and communication channels.
Requirements
- Master of Laws (LLM), J.D., or an equivalent legal qualification with a strong academic record.
- At least 6 years of experience in privacy, data protection, or a related compliance discipline, ideally within international or technology-oriented organizations.
- Solid understanding of European data protection law, including GDPR, along with broader international regimes such as UK GDPR, Swiss FADP, and US privacy laws including CCPA.
- Practical experience with DPIAs, RoPAs, vendor assessments, and mechanisms for transferring data across borders.
- Demonstrated ability to draft, negotiate, and assess privacy and data protection clauses in commercial contracts.
- Background advising legal, product, engineering, and business stakeholders in a corporate or enterprise environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex legal and regulatory issues into clear guidance for non-legal audiences.
- Capability to work autonomously, juggle multiple priorities, and make thoughtful risk-based decisions.
- Strong analytical ability, problem-solving skills, and careful attention to detail.
Benefits and working environment
- Competitive pay package based on experience and market standards.
- Flexible working arrangements with a remote-friendly culture.
- Strong emphasis on learning, professional development, and career growth.
- Opportunity to work on advanced AI, cloud, and data-driven technologies.
- International, collaborative, and highly skilled team environment.
- High ownership and autonomy in the role.
- Exposure to complex global regulatory and product challenges.
Application and hiring process
This role is listed on behalf of a partner company, which handles applications and all further hiring steps. The partner company will review candidates, and its internal team will manage the final decision as well as any interviews or assessments.
