Role Overview
The Research Assistant will support the St. Augustine, Florida site in a full-time, onsite position. The role follows standard Monday through Friday business hours and is classified as non-exempt. Compensation is offered at $21 to $25 per hour.
Key Duties
- Assist clinical research coordinators and site personnel with protocol-driven patient visits and study procedures, such as blood draws, IV placement, injections, vital sign checks, and ECG/EKG tasks.
- Record clinical observations and study-related data in accordance with regulations and Good Clinical Practice standards.
- Support the informed consent process while following federal requirements and IRB guidance.
- Contribute to patient recruitment and visit scheduling to help the site achieve enrollment targets.
- Keep source records accurate and complete case report forms carefully.
- Escalate adverse events to supervisors or investigators when necessary.
- Assist with organizing study supplies, lab kits, and other research materials.
- Protect confidentiality and operate in line with all compliance and ethics expectations.
- Maintain clear communication with the research team and document important study-related exchanges.
- Represent the organization professionally in all internal and external interactions.
- Take on other tasks assigned by management.
Work Conditions and Physical Expectations
- The position may require schedule flexibility to support clinic operations and site leadership needs.
- Daily computer work is part of the role.
- You should be able to sit or stand at a computer for extended periods.
- Access to a car and the ability to drive each day are required.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred but not mandatory.
- Prior clinical research experience is required; oncology research experience is a plus.
- A minimum of 2 years of clinical research experience is needed.
- Hands-on familiarity with vital signs, ECG/EKG, phlebotomy, and injections is preferred.
- Experience using electronic e-source reporting tools is required.
- You should understand ICH, FDA, and GCP rules and standards.
- Strong organization and careful attention to detail are essential.
- You need excellent communication and people skills for working with investigators, sponsors, CROs, participants, and referral contacts.
- The role calls for honesty, independence, and a strong ethical approach.
- Solid critical-thinking ability is important.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and lab sample collection, handling, and storage is expected.
- Comfort using computers and Microsoft Office applications is required.
