Test Analyst

Role overview

We are looking for an experienced IT Test Analyst to join a fast-moving technology team focused on delivering reliable digital solutions. In this role, you will help make sure new systems, improvements, and integrations satisfy both business expectations and technical standards. It is a practical, hands-on quality assurance position that calls for strong analytical thinking, a disciplined testing approach, and a strong focus on quality.

What the role involves

The Test Analyst will take ownership of planning, running, and coordinating testing activities across several projects. The job includes shaping test strategies, building test cases, setting up and maintaining test environments, and working closely with development and business stakeholders to support successful delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Review business and technical specifications to understand how the solution should work and what needs to be tested.
• Create and update detailed test plans, scripts, and scenarios that cover functionality, usability, performance, and security.
• Carry out both manual and automated testing to confirm system behaviour and data accuracy.
• Prepare and maintain test environments, test data, and system settings so test runs are consistent and dependable.
• Record, monitor, and follow up on defects until they are fixed, using the relevant tools and workflows.
• Share clear test results, risk notes, and quality metrics with stakeholders.
• Work alongside developers, business analysts, and project managers to resolve issues and improve the quality of the solution.
• Contribute to better testing practices, tools, and documentation standards over time.

Experience and qualifications

You should have at least 3 years of experience in software testing or QA within a technology environment. A third-level qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline is expected. Experience testing web, cloud, or enterprise applications is important, along with solid knowledge of testing concepts, tools, and methodologies. You should understand the SDLC and delivery approaches such as Agile or Waterfall. Experience using defect tracking and test management tools such as JIRA, Azure DevOps, or TestRail is required. The role also calls for the ability to maintain traceability between requirements, test cases, and outcomes, plus strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. Attention to detail, a commitment to high standards, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team are all essential.

Desirable experience

Additional value will come from software testing or QA certifications such as ISTQB Foundation Level or an equivalent credential. Exposure to test automation frameworks or scripting languages, API testing, integration testing, or performance testing would also be beneficial. Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD environments is a plus, as is a proactive mindset and a willingness to learn new tools and technologies.
