Underground Paste Crewman

Role overview

This position is for an Underground Paste Crewman who will help install, operate, and maintain underground paste reticulation systems safely and efficiently.

Key duties

• Set up underground paste reticulation components such as pipe supports, couplings, elbows, and related fittings.
• Fit underground dump valves, diverter valves, pressure sensors, and other instrumentation.
• Build paste walls and bunds as part of underground infrastructure works.
• Work in coordination with surface plant personnel and mining operations teams to keep activities aligned.
• Assist supervisors with planning and delivering paste infrastructure tasks on time and within scope.
• Keep accurate daily records of work completed, paste line performance, and maintenance needs.
• Follow safety requirements at all times, including identifying hazards, managing risks, and using the correct PPE.
• Collaborate with services, projects, and production crews to sequence paste installation around mining schedules.

Candidate profile

• At least 12 months of underground experience is required, specifically in paste and project environments.
• Hands-on ability with hand tools, power tools, and underground equipment used for paste reticulation.
• Practical mechanical knowledge and the capability to diagnose and fix basic faults.
• A strong safety mindset and solid hazard awareness are essential.
• You should be comfortable working in physically demanding conditions and confined spaces.
• Good communication skills and a collaborative approach are important.
• Flexibility to adjust to changing tasks and work schedules is expected.
• Must hold IT and UG LV tickets.
• A current manual driver’s licence is mandatory.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment medical, including drug and alcohol screening, is required.
